Switching to OS/2 from eComstation on Lenovo ThinkStation S20 Workstation (415713U)

Switching to OS/2 from eComstation on Lenovo ThinkStation S20 Workstation (415713U)
I have purchased Lenovo ThinkStation S20 Workstation (415713U). I am looking for below mentioned things. Any of you have installed any version of Serenity Systems or eComstation on the work station? In case I install eComstation (OS/2) on my workstation whether it will void warranty coming along with the work station? Give me idea about Intel E5502, I found that it having some weird specification of Intel Dual Core.

So far I have not used OS/2. As far as I know the warranty would not void if you have installed unsupported OS.. the CPU which you have mentioned over here E5502 is the entry-level Xeon. In case the operating system is capable of multithreading then E5502 is supposed to be limiting factor. If OS is not utilizing the single core then this particular CPU would not be any limitation.

Thanks a lot for the prompt replies of yours. right now I am using IBM Intellistation Z pro dual pentium pro 200 and Matrox G200 pci card. I liked the X60 laptop. The specification which I am going to get is e5502, 2 - 150gb 10000 rmb 2.5 drives, fx1800 pci express card, dvd rom. I think it have great performance.

According to me S20 configuration is fastest OS then that of ISZ. So you can install it on your workstation and let me know about your experience after loading it.

I wanted to tell you that eComstation 1.2R is having limited success as there is no lack of drivers specific for the Lenovo hardware and due to that it is not able to work with the full potential. I have not installed OS/2 since there is something kind of memory limitation which would cause the throw stop codes. Well I am believing that there would be limit of 64Mb.

I am aware of that I can run OS/2 app on eComstation if I can load on the work station of mine. I am aware of that version 2.0 is going to be released really soon and it would have better hardware compatibility. I found that Windows Vista is really bad and I should get Windows 7. But according to me Windows Vista and Windows 7 are having the same look and feel. So give me brief idea on that as well.

Windows 95, 98, 2000, and XP are running in same manner and having identical look and feel. The Core Structure of Windows 7 and Windows Vista kernel seems to same but performance of Windows 7 was quite better. I did not got any issue while using vista or server 2008. So select the OS which you know very well rather learning entirely new one.
