Re: difficulties in-building wireless coverage
Because wireless technologies evolve, they are having to use the spectrum they can - and while the technologies are generally international standards, spectrum allocations are not. Instead, a specific technology may be allocated a few MHz here and there a few MHz, with specific frequencies, ranging from country to country.
For example, Lewing said the band planning - or lack thereof - for U.S. cellular. "It's all over the place!" he said. "PCS is five [separate blocks], 850MHz is another seven blocks away ... And now you too can have mobile repeaters in trains, for example, which means that you must change the blocks at the border.

Make all this easier is the basic software radio and software-controlled RF filter. This means that a single radio can cover a range of services, Lewing said, noting that the region Innova Wireless has chosen to work in. uses RF and building needs coverage. You can also get GPS transponders, such as a fire station garage, so that fire-engines are not sitting outside waiting for a satellite fix before finding the fire.
