Opinions after 1st playthrough of main story of The Darkness II

Opinions after 1st playthrough of main story of The Darkness II
I just finished The Darkness II for the first time and I loved it. The game had awesome story, innovative way of fights. Though I first thought that it would be usual First Person Shooter game, it was not. The experience was completely different; it was different than what I had expected. Does anyone else think the same about the game as I think?

I liked the game in Single player Mode. The main story was good; the Vendetta mode was nice too. The game didn’t live up to the expectation in Multiplayer mode. But I liked the gameplay. One can utilize almost any object in the world as Weapon. One can pull out the doors of cars and use it as shield or maybe can throw it on enemies to kill them or cut them in pieces. Te blood level was another good thing. The game was given a good background story to follow. I have read its comics, but again I feel that the story has been given another perspective by letting one play as Jimmy in Vendetta mode.

The game was great but the most irritating part of the game that I think is the primitive FPS aiming system. The developers should have had worked on that part or maybe release a patch to improve the smoothness of mouse drags. I loved every level and how one needs to utilize most of the dark powers to fight and survive. I got the feeling of the game being awesome from the first time I saw its poster, digital comics, trailers and other content available online.

The game was great but the main story was just too short. The developers could have had increased the story by adding some time increasing missions. The missions would have not affected the story in any way, but just to increase the time of the game. This would have also let the user explore the dark powers to a new extent. The best part was that there was no part or problem in the storyline. The story being partly psychological, chances of having loops were more, but the developers haven’t left anything to complain about the story.

I played the game and I am not satisfied. I think I wasted my money on this game. Many important content of the game were to be downloaded from the website. I find this totally wrong. If they were making us download extra stuff like poster, music or themes for the game from online store then it was acceptable. But the developers had kept the upgrades of powers in DLC. This is what I didn’t like about the game.

The game was great. Many of friends who played the game said that they were not satisfied by the length of the game. But I watched all the cut scenes, played all the side quests and played through the Vendetta campaign. I found the game longer than the previous part. The developers have left ending incomplete so that the same story can be further continued in next part. But I think that developers should provide some DLC which will hint us to the content of the next part or maybe what happens to Jackie.

When I first started the game, I played it in ‘Don’ difficulty level. I found the game extremely easy at this level. I did die at some events, but again any gamer who plays First Person Shooters will find it too easy as compared to other games. Not content with the difficulty level, I changed the difficulty settings to advanced one. Now I found the real feel of killing the enemies. Increased difficulty let me explore my powers more.

The game doesn’t follow the storyline of the comic books. The base concept and character development is maintained, but again at some point the story of the game drifts away from the story of comics. I think this is what makes the game unique. No one will know how the game will end by reading comics. The comic like feel in the game created by the textures and colors adds more fun to the game.
